The effect on other taxes after GST announcement
We are witnessing the tax reformation in India. Many other taxes levied by Central
and State Government were included in to GST to become “One Nation One Tax”.
On the Central level, the following taxes are being merged in to GST:
- Central Excise Duty,
- Additional Excise Duty,
- Service Tax,
- Special Additional Duty of Customs.
- Additional Customs Duty known as Countervailing Duty
On the State level, the following taxes are being merged in to GST:
- State Value Added Tax/Sales Tax,
- Entertainment Tax (other than the tax levied by the local bodies)
- Octroi and Entry tax,
- Purchase Tax,
- Luxury tax
- Taxes on lottery, betting and gambling.
